New Mortgage Scam
August 16th, 2011 11:35 AM by Mark Groves
There's a new mortgage scam to be aware of. DON'T FALL FOR THIS. Fraudulent companies send out letters to home owners informing them that their mortgage servicing has been sold to a new company. People then begin sending their payments to the new company. But their servicing has not been sold and therefore they are now out the money AND they are delinquent on their real mortgage. If you get a letter informing you of a mortgage servicing change (which is likely very legitimate) be sure to call your current lender and confirm this to be true BEFORE sending your payments to the new company.
